Our specific approach to curation is a vindication of younger generations, both as creators and audiences

MEDIANOCHE0 is a non-profit dedicated to helping contemporary artists reach new audiences via online and physical platforms. Through our collection, pop-up shows, residencies, profiles, interviews, articles by guest curators and talks, we seek to offer a comprehensive view of artists’ practices.

MEDIANOCHE0 has its headquarters in Granada, Spain. Granada has evolved from a layering of cultures past, and this is amply reflected in an abundance of old masters and architectural gems. We seek to fill a perceived gap in the local cultural offer, to converse with and recontextualise these traditions, and encourage others to make their mark on the city with their brand of curation.

The flagship museum is being rehabilitated and will house the permanent collection as well as rotating shows. Our first space at Gran Vía de Colón, 29 features exhibitions that showcase different aspects of the collection. We also produce off-site exhibitions at local heritage sites facilitated by the Ayuntamiento de Granada and the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife.

The collection is geographically agnostic and has work by a growing roster of emerging and mid-career artists from around the world, as well as by the more established artists who have influenced them. Our specific approach to curation is a vindication of younger generations – both as creators and audiences – and follows a particular set of narratives derived from the trends and preoccupations of a Post-Internet society.

We are committed to strengthening the fingerprint of each of our artists, not only through the in-house channels but by collaborating with larger institutions, such as the Centre Pompidou, MOMA PS1, Sapieha Palace, the Long Beach Museum of Art, the Aldrich Contemporary Art MuseumKMAC, M WOODS, Pond Society, Hamburger Kunsthalle and the Museum Brandhorst.

We also aim to be the nexus between the local art ecosystem and the administration, and to drive permanent, incremental and sustainable progress towards a healthy contemporary art scene that can support creatives living and working in the city. As part of these efforts, we are working with the Universidad de Granada and La Madraza to create a program that can become a powerful educational resource. Future initiatives include a residency program as an ode to Granada’s past as a site of pilgrimage for artists.
